The Night Before Christmas (or A visit from The Enemy)
by ReconN

T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the fort,
"Not a creature was stirring," came the defensive report;
The sentries were placed on the walls with great care,
In the hopes that the enemy soon would be there;

The snipers were nestled all snug in their loft,
while dreaming of Tomb Raider III (starring Miss Croft);
And marines at the ready, blasters trained at the door,
had just set up Turrets, and proxies on the floor,

When up from water there arose a dim form,
A marine sprang from his post, to his duty perform.
Away to the entrance he dashed in a hurry,
Looking for danger, his eyes getting blurry.

The moon on the surface of the lapping water
Showed everything outside to be in order,
As the marine turned around, what did appear,
But a member of his team, a friend engineer,

With a salute, and a smile, one oh so slick,
The marine knew in a moment it must be no trick.
More quickly, and quietly than he had come,
He dissapeared into the base, (to have a little fun);

Now Recon, now Nurse, now Marine, and Gunny,
On, Cyborg, on Pyro, on Sniper, and Engy
Back to your posts, back to the wall,
Now watch for the enemy, watch for them all.

As posts were filled, and people set to camp,
The lone Engineer climbed up the ramp.
Up to the elevator, he moved through the door,
Changed to a Marine as he fell to the floor.

All their defenders he merely walked by,
Ah, how it is.. the life of a spy.
He went to the flag room, to see what was there,
Two engineers, a defenseless pair.

Their sentrys elsewhere, his success in the bag,
He went to work, on taking their flag;
He stabbed one in the back, his disguises gone,
Shooting the other, faster then they could respawn.

He grabbed the flag, and laughed as he ran,
This was why he was let in a clan;
A marine running through a door, fired two rockets, not far apart,
Our hero responded with the shot of a dart.

He dropped a grenade, as he jumped off the roof,
He knew it had concussed, the missed shots the proof.
They heard him yell, as he ran 'cross the bridge, and out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!!"
