I'm more disappointed in the average, apparently blood-thirsty, canadians all around me. They're starting to look a lot like a pitchfork-wielding, sacrifice-demanding mob.
Look how they act when they're self-righteous, look how quick they are to take out their anger on a scapegoat. When people make nazi germany comparisons, this is what they're talking about - not the particulars of whatever controversial policy.
It's the behaviour of the majority that is so appalling - IF you can see it. Most can't, and they've so thoroughly dehumanized, publicly, their opposition that no one can even publicly admit to belonging to the opposition for fear of ostracization - even from someones closest friends and family, in many cases.
It's an unfolding tragedy.
