I want to preface this by saying I have no idea what I'm talking about, so these are assumptions.

Since the inception and when they first started writing lines of code haven't game engines and software progressed in a way that would require them to re-write it to adapt it to the new "modern" era of tech? How much of the work that they're doing now is fixing things that are now outdated?

If and when it does get released and has everything that was promised that will be amazing. I think, however, that one of the most major points of excitement about their process has lost all of it's glimmer.

Once again if it's finished and delivered It'll be exciting. That being said if one of my favorite game developers say's they're going crowd funded to produce a game using the same model, it'll be very hard to be excited. My 9 year old will be in college, and my 6 year old will be close.
