If our planet was getting hit by asteroids every 80 or 100 years, do you not think we would try to prepare for it? Yes, that is a strawman argument, because I'm not saying that we should prepare for something that is virtually unforeseeable, improbable or unlikely, I'm saying we should be prepared for things like infectious diseases... you know, that thing that wiped out half the world in the last few centuries? Like how we prepare by vaccinating our children against things like polio, typhoid etc. and why we have global entities like WHO and CDC.

Sorry, but arguing against a country being prepared to help their own people by being able to manufacture vaccines isn't really as communist or far out there as you're making it sound. Like I said, the infrastructure is in place, it's not hard to do and for the damage infectious diseases can do, it would only make sense that we protect ourselves first and be prepared for the day we get hit again.
