the problem is were waay under that line right now, in Ontario and almost everywhere in North America except new York, probably even further then we realize given the lag of the curve. in Ontario, the officials dont seem to react at all.
if we had a real strategy and were moving with the data, i wouldn't be as annoyed by all this but at this point everything screams 'reopen'.
lockdowns aren't even necessary, just strict physical distancing. were adults, we can be trusted with this. a small group will ignore precautions but they don't matter in the scheme of things, as long as enough people cooperate.
then we need the public health department out front everyday saying 'relax a bit, we need more infections' or 'ok, slow down we need to be stricter it's heating up'
instead we have the worst leadership i could imagine at all levels. very discouraging.
