Even with the cheesy lines, the show was made well and it fit into it's own little genre/catagory that we hadn't really ever seen before, especially on that scale. I feel like a lot of great shows can be cheesy or have shitty one-liners here and there, but that's what keeps it a bit weird. Like Twin Peaks was cheesy and messed up but ended up working out.
GoT is an instant cult classic regardless of ending. It's apparent that the first 4 seasons are MUCH better writing wise than the last few. There are several hours in the latter seasons that are just build-up events for something that never ends up happening in the future.
I won't complain because it's a great show and I will definitely be rewatching the first 7 seasons soon.
