There are like 400 things going on in L.A. per weekend, so even if nothing is as important as E3, gaming-wise there will still be a ton of other stuff coming up in the upcoming months. I really think if you've never been to L.A. county, it's worth the visit. With as much shit as I've talked on L.A. in my life (as a good Bay Area/San Diego human should), it's still a place with thousands of amazing places to go, things to see, and stuff to do.
And Hollywood is awesome, I don't care what anyone says. It's awesomeless lies in the fact that it's so superficial and complete bullshit on the exterior as you walk around Santa Monica Blvd. (On the Interior, it's a cool place, but you have to know people, which I don't anymore because I'm washed up). But yeah Hollywood Hills are awesome too.
