I read about it too... I thought I would have some kind of knowledge about what actually happened but I was way off... the true story itself is stranger and more like Shawshank than anything the media could have portrayed. They kind of just fed the public this "be afraid, prisoners have escaped" type vibe out there, but how they did it and the events after were incredible.
One thing that did suprise me (SPOILERS BELOW FROM LAST EPISODE):
I thought they were both killed. Didn't realize Sweat survived. Crazy.
