The opening scene was the only necessary part in the episode. Too much dramatic scenery for the dragon queen's homecoming. The shit scene was a creative, interpretive description for the rest of the series.
Future prediction: The hound will sacrifice himself to let Aria/Tall-blonde-knight-lady live.
Other opinion: Dragonglass should have been a bit more specialized, like special rocks forged by a dragon's breath of fire. But nope, just plain old obsidian. No special properties about that material other than being sharper than a razor when chipped correctly. Lamesauce!
