I would love to get involved in politics if good ideas actually meant anything in politics today. Knowing or having connections with the right people is at least 75% of being able to make any kind of political change. Getting involved in grass roots politics is a long dirty road from what I've seen... a lot of cold calling, canvassing etc. and little to no room for moving up. If your family is wealthy and contributes to the right people, you may have a shot in moving up to a position of some power, but that's not a guarantee either.
If politicians were built from good political ideas we would live in a much better world.
