Completely fair Jabes. I think (not sure about the metaphor).
I find it very easy to argue with people that reflexively spew talking points from either of the horrid left/right black/white solid/liquid talking points.
We know the people/input we receive in our lives shape our opinions. Some we choose some we don't. We didn't choose our parents, but they shaped our opinion in some way. We, for the most part, didn't choose our teachers. They also have the same effect.
We can now choose if we want our opinion shaped on left/right, black/white, etc. I challenge everyone to seek avenues of information they'd otherwise disagree with or, quite blatantly, be outside the comfort zone of something you think you'd want to hear.
Ultimately I believe no person is left/right. We can't be lumped into a party when we all feel differently about different things.
