You read it out of context though, I was pointing towards the punishment or consequence that WAS given to him, not what I think his punishment or consequence should be. You're right though, punishment was the wrong word to chose even in that context.

If you think I have some kind of unfair bias against the mentally ill you're dead wrong. My uncle is a paranoid schizophrenic and has been for almost 40 years. I myself was in a few different mental hospitals after having drug induced schizo effective disorder. I was dosing mushrooms every day for a few weeks and started losing my grip on reality. Wasn't violent or anything, but I know how mentally shot a mind can be in the wrong conditions.

I'm glad this guy got help and is now doing better. I just don't think anyone, not even the best doctors in the world can truly know what's going on inside somebody's mind. It's too fucking risky with this guy.
