Unless Martin decides to write a decidedly smaller final book than the rest the pacing hasn't been great since the start for the size of the books and has been getting steadily worse.
Characters teleporting all over the place especially in the last few episodes.
Do you think in Martins books they are going to have a chapter where Theon and Yara (Asha) decide, hey we are going to fine Daenerys and then BOOM next Theon chapter they are on the step stalking to her? no story on how they got there, any trouble they may have had getting an audience with her?
Or Varys going to Dorne to form an alliance, then going back to Daenerys and no story or discussion at all about how that all went for him or what the offer was?
With all that said this shit is so far off the books at this point who knows. We are going to read the books (assuming GRRM doesn't die before then) and they'll be nothing like the TV show.
