It makes sense for sure. The only thing that I would ask is out of those patients that were given prescription painkillers, if you offered them some or had it available for sale after their recovery how many would accept? I think most of the people in a hospital setting don't have an alternate supply if the doctors aren't offering anymore.
Of course if your life is full and rich you are less likely to become addicted, but what do we do about the millions of families stuck in the cycle already? Addiction is a mean bitch.
