The fact is that there are multiple shooting deaths every single day in America and these types of deaths do not happen in countries that have stricter gun control laws like Canada or Australia. They have a lower population? Well, the ratio of gun deaths in America comparatively is about a 5 to 1 ratio. These are just the homicides. Want to look at unintentional gun deaths? It's about 15 to 1 for the USA. These are pretty clear cut facts based on data showing that countries like the USA with laughable gun laws have more deaths with guns than countries with stricter gun control. But wait, you could kill people with knives and bombs instead! Nope. The statistics do not match that. The stats very clearly show a correlation to a higher rate of gun related homicides and accidental deaths to lack of gun control. Why is it that with any other kind of evidence this would hold weight? Because it's your right given to a bunch of dead dudes that had to worry about invading forces coming onto your turn in large numbers?

Keep the laws the same as they are then... it just guarantees that guys like that will have no problem getting a firearm. There are plenty of people that can't cross the border or go on a flight or even drive a car because they have been proven to be irresponsible in life... but can they own a truck load of firearms and ammunition?
