First of all, it's in the TV series as well that Cersei is having imps killed all over. There was a scene where they brought the wrong dwarf head to her from across seas. I know it is more pronounced in the books, but it still exists. I think in the show it is more of a hatred than fear comparatively.
Secondly, although Jamie may grow tired of her shit, he clearly states that he would kill every person in the world to be with her again. His only mission in life is to be with her, no matter how much of a cunt she is. I don't think he will ever give up on her, even though I think she may have. She cares more for her kids than anything.
If anything, Cersei burns down the Sept or something like that... she's backed in a corner and they have brainwashed her only remaining child. She's going to do some drastic shit.
