Its definitely Coldhands... you could tell by his black / pudding-like hands.
They are one and the same.
That whole rumor about RRM's editor and he going back and forth where an editor circles the Coldhands part in a book draft and asks, "Benjen?" and he then writes back and says, "No!".... turns out that is probably bullshit :)
