The main line my train yard is connected to goes to Fort McMurray. The rail yard filled up in a hurry this week. I had to turn away cars because i am over capacity from cars that can't go to Fort Mac to get loaded.
Fort McMurray makes up 25% of Canada's oil production about 800,000 barrels a day. They are still running at 60% capacity right now.
This is a major impact on the global oil reserves which are over supplied. Oil prices are going up slowly as a result. Also expect gas prices to rise across North America.
So when you get to the gas pump and say WTF when you see the increase, this fire storm is why.

These next two dash cams are from mid afternoon. The wind went to 70kph and suddenly turned towards town. Completely unexpected. Word is everyone was orderly and no one was hurt. Town of 90,000 completely emptied in a few hours except for fire fighters
