Super conspiracy theory: So what if he and the boy killed the lady, then made it look like the cops planted the evidence to trick the jury into thinking they we innocent (and probably to get back at the cops from the previous mis-conviction), but instead it backfired and they were put in prison for the very crime the committed! And now they are scrambling like crazy to get out.
