yeah, could have been reactionary to an extent. I definitely don't think he intentionally lined up the ref to hit him, it was definitely a ref that was in the line of Wideman getting back to the bench.
However, where I disagree is that he put his arms up just because somebody was in front of him. It wasn't a knee jerk reaction, it was an anger hit. I've played hockey for 25 years, and I know that just because somebody is in your way when you're trying to get off doesn't mean you rear up like that on them. I also know that if you did do it by accident you would at the very least look behind you to see if they were okay... regardless of head trauma, he knew after it happened that he hit the ref. No doubt in that.
