Blizzard was one of the first, and is one of the best, at using analytics in game dev, really starting with the launch of WoW. Their games have been dumbed down very precisely to cater to the majority, because they have effectively been keylogging you while you play any Blizzard game over the last decade or so. That's some super handy data for game devs trying to get rich, if they take the time to look at it!
It just so happens that in most cases, the majority is also the lowest common denominator of gamers. So the games end up being terribly easy, and if they can manage, maybe there's a good competitive side as well, ala Heroes of the Storm.
