"AAA" games hahahahahaha
Gaming has been dumbed down for the masses, bottom line, end of story. Yes, consoles have come a long way, but in the end they are just limited PCs that come on like gangbusters and then do nothing but fall behind.
They make things accessible to the masses, but they certainly do not drive innovative gameplay... in fact, they chase the crowd by making games even more "accessible" (i.e., easier).
Now and then one comes out that bucks the curve and all, but for the most part the get shot 1,000 times in a "realistic" game, as long as you hide under a desk for a second you're good to go trend has been around since like the 2nd Call of Duty.
Consoles are the reality TV shows of gaming. They are easy to get into, lack substance, but give a lot of people something common to talk about.
I'm more than happy to remain in the PC realm which, while certainly more expensive, contains vast and cerebral options that probably don't appeal to the console push-a-button masses.
