Only thing that would make sense is the video being stored on a Micro SD card - I sell and install a lot of camera systems and I haven't heard of any kind of camera that stores video feed remotely without some kind of wifi connection. It's almost certainly a Micro SD card or small portable harddrive. If the camera was mashed up, the chip could easily be wrecked with it.
