As far as walling in your base, I don't bother because it's a pain in the ass and my main camp was kind of a shitty spot to do so, but from what I've read, enemy AI will try to go in through a single opening, but if you wall in the whole way, they will start trying to break in at whatever point that are at. So some people like to make a panic room where you wall yourself in and leave a single opening so they can just face enemies one at a time. I don't bother cause I usually just run from all enemies and lure them to a local Treeguard, Lure Plant, or Tall Bird.
