I'd actually consider replacing Stargates with Minecart Mania and Towny, that way travel can still be sped up, but not instantaneously warping around everywhere bypassing all dangers.
Plus it'd be cool to be able to build a community subway system to link in to any areas/bases we wanted. Right now there's not much point since we can just warp everywhere.
