Shadowspawn is the current WFA code guardian, though I suspect Zitheral could easily step back in. I can't speak for them, but don't think either has any designs involving WFA. SS supposedly has an unreleased, patched WFA, with tweakable gameplay options and possibly bug fixes. I think it's funny you cited too much offense in the unpopular post-acrid version. IIRC, that was 2.3 to 2.9... Which I considered horrible because of the tight gunner cone (id bug, but a terrible choice not to fix it). I'm not sure what made you consider 2.9 so o-friendly (maybe the 100% defuse explosion, or sniper nerf), but I remember it as being one of the tighter versions. I don't think anyone is just going to hand you some source code. I do think it would be interesting to reinvigorate WFA. A webpage based Q3/WFA could have some fun integration with PICE. At any rate, I think those days are gone. |
