"The only reason people think the 8500 is as good as the Ti500 is because ATI cheated. Their tailored their driver set SPECIFICALLY to perform better on the quake 3 engine everyone is using to test performance. Sorry but a company that does that can kiss me arse, they'll never see a dime of muh money. John Carmack wrote up a nice bit about it in his .plan. I wonder what trade-offs they had to make elsewhere eh? Nothing is free.
