Spanky: Canadian politicians went to England in the 1870's and asked for our independence, England said "Ok, but you still need to be under our queen (figurehead). We said sure, then in 1931 (I think?) we severed all non-cosmetic ties with Britan beyond alliances.
We didn't have to wage war, so what's your point?
