It all comes down to money. If you don't mind spending a lot, then you are correct. Nothing beats a GF3 Ti500. They frequently overclock from 240/500 to 275/580.
I myself will be more than happy to spend the next year using an OC GF3 Ti200 :)
It will blow away my GF2 GTS, and my GTS still rocks in all the games I play.
