cutting edge is one of the most overrated game traits. Any gamer loves gameplay over graphics, replayability and originality over pushing their hardware to the limits, fun ai over realistic voices. I wish someone on any system would come up with a starcraft, mario bros type of breakout fun game you can really play for years. I think the lack of "cutting edge" actually makes the developement process better... like too many pc game developers are too pressured to make their game prettier than all that came before it, and not enough on clever ai and original plots.
