I don't recall the work on the manual ever being done prior to me actually doing it.
Either way, I will not disagree that I sometimes needed some prodding to get some things done :)
Usually when it came time to release, though, I was at my best. Crunch time is my favourite time. I put out when it counted, so I guess that's the most important thing?
