i liked avp2 and this game is its successor in a lot of ways. the graphics in this are very very good. I do see how you can complain about the overuse of the strobes and the textures and small rooms...
i don't get how you can this is not scary... i was scared several times playing this. This has a lot of atmosphere, you are paying for a lot of atmosphere in this title. I've only played a bit past the part where you first meet an imp, but damn if those aren't scary beasts. overall, the game is exactly what I expected.

Just saying the game really has delivered what I expected, and I'm happy with that.
Is this any different gameplay-wise from half life? not really. I can see your point about how the environments are so claustrophobic. I would have to agree that if there is any buzzkill to this new engine, its that it does not appear to do outdoors at all like lithtech or the unreal engine.
