Trash - Almost everything you have said about WFA's flaws can be applied to other mods with one exception. The enormity of WFA's config system is just plain bad. All mods dwindle if the game becomes stagnant. Without new ideas every mod will lose players. Another thing to keep in mind is that CTF/DM are older ideas than class-based CTF so we can see that novelty doesn't play as big of a factor as you make it out to be. I don't know if you've given serious thought or looked into the learning curve behind OSP or Threewave, but they too are enormous. To get as good as the best players in those mods takes about as long as it does to get as good as the best players in WFA. Pretty much all of the best players in those mods have been playing for many years. Many mods died long before WFA did, Gridiron, Alliance, Bid for Power, Corkscrew, Paintball just to name a few. Even the big mods like UrT and Threewave are getting very small. Threewave currently has 7 servers with at least 6 players. UrT has 17 servers with at least 6 players. Two years ago, you'd see these mods with hundreds of full servers. WFA is now five years old. Even the mighty q2WF was almost nothing after five years. Of the non-vanilla mods (strictly ctf or DM) WFA lasts longer than pretty much every other mod.
