Not positive about this, but make sure you can see curves. In the editor, you can turn certain things off and on, so you don't see them in the editor, even though they are there. I'm at work, and can't remember the menu's off the top of my head, but I think under view, and then a submenu down from there, you'll find swtiches for turning things off and on.
Also, there is an icon on the menu bar, that allows you to turn curves off and on.
