I'm hoping we do - 16 maps tend to get old after awhile. I mean, this is what usually happens out of those 16: * at least two maps will suck ass on a pub, once it gets played enough to reveal fundamentally obscene gameplay faults in them. (ex: map9) * at least one map will play great and kick ass, until someone discovers a bug in it that promptly llamas the map into "suck" status (ex: Observatories - excellent map until someone discovered the 'hole' in midfield's ceiling.) * at least one map will have a kick-ass concept, but will eventually degenerate into a useless DM-fest every time it getws played (Space) * at least one map will favor one class over all others big-time, to the point where you have that class maxed-out all the damn time, making either O or D impossible. * at least four maps will be remakes of old Q2WF warhorses, which means that thanks to tried-and-true tactics, the newbies are basically fucked. They get played the most, but are also the ones that bore you to death after a couple of hours. * also, there will be at least one or two maps with "SupAr SECRAT rooms!", meaning that most of the bored players will just goof off in there, instead of helping their team out. ... that leaves a couple of fresh, solid maps (like 2castles and Sky) - the ones that get played over and over and over and over again. At least with 24 maps instead of 16, the statistical odds of getting a better variety of maps goes up :) /P |
