well eraser was based off of acebot, and ace went GPL, so the whole thing was ripped apart and implemented better.

there is an ingame node-optimizer that works similar to bspc (or creating an aas within quake3). the only thing is that mappers HAVE to create path routes, it's not autogenerated.

bspc loads the map and then runs a client around inside of it to see where it can go, based on the cfg that is loaded. with fusion its an actual client that runs around first to drop nodes.

its easier and gives more control, because you can display them, move them, change/add/delete nodes.

it is boring however to run around in a map several dozen times while developing this code, but for mappers or those that want to use custom node files they can do that.

i'm including these node files for wfa maps and giving admins the choice to use them (as they compress really well) or custom ones (g_customnodes 1) which just tacks on a custom_ to whatever.nod to keep em seperate.
