I didn't quite follow all that, though maybe because it slipped into Windows stuff... that, and my head is full of cotton.

I'm running Mandrake Linux 9.1 on that machine. If it can take advantage of the SMP for Quake, then I'd probably get tolerably close to my games system's performance (it's an Athlon 1.333) on the CPU end.

On the other hand, I've got a PCI All-In-Wonder card in that system, which is Rage Pro Turbo or something. I could put an AGP card in there, but ATM all I've got are this Voodoo3 card and more Rage Pro Turbo cards. :/ It'll only take AGP 1 (2x), so buying a modern card won't give me much advantage.

Not sure why I'm even thinking about this. My other system is working just fine. I think I need more tea.
