If you go to Freeport 5 in Omega-41 and talk to the bartender he will hack your record for different factions everytime you dock and talk to him. So just do that alot until you get the faction you want and hack your record.
I also prefer the Titan over the Eagle b/c even if people can get behind me in the Eagle I have ripper mines that will fuck them up hard. It's all about your weapons and if you have a good mix. I was screwing around the missiles, mines, regular guns on my titan alot before I stopped playing and those mines and missiles really come in handy.
