Subject: *** Map Deadline Tonight at 12am CST ***

Here we are, boys and girls...

Tonight at 12:00 am (Midnight) CST, we will no longer be accepting maps for consideration, so make sure that either Raven0us, Shadowspawn, or myself has a copy of your map to be considered for inclusion with WFA v3.5.

Here's what Static originally posted in regards to why we're doing this, the timeline we're working on, and some key things to remember:

By August 7th you must give Shadow a pk3 containing any map that you wish to have considered as "official" in v3.5. Your map need not be absolutely perfect at this point but it should be complete enough that you don't mind it being used to determine the merit of your work.

By August 19th I will have selected the final maplist for v3.5. If your map is selected and you still wish to have it included in v3.5, you must give Shadow a FINAL version of your pk3, ***********WITH the .MAP FILE**************.

The WFADEV team mappers will be going over all new maps to be included with v3.5 looking for ways to improve their performance, quality, looks, and potentially small gameplay tweaks. Obviously the amount of changes each map might receive are likely to be very small given the total number of maps we will be working with but it is VERY likely that at least some changes will be made to each map. Once we have finished our changes, we will recompile the final BSP and make the final v3.5 pk3. We will send you a copy of the modified .map file so that you will have it to build from in the future if you decide to make revisions or 2nd generation versions. This is not negotiable this time around. Anyone who isn't willing to let the devteam try to smooth out their work is of course welcome to submit their map to wfamaps as a freelance work.

Additionally, all new maps MUST contain domination mode entities. You can contact Shadowspawn, Rav, or any of the veterans in #wfamaps for info on that.

The official devteam mappers are Rav, D-man, Aries, and Belac. Shadowspawn will likely be assisting them in their duties both adminstratively and technically. Those are the folks who will be doing the optimizations.

Some Guidelines -- Reposted as a friendly reminder -- Do not taunt the happy fun ball, as Dizzy would say. Abide the guidelines or perish in hell for all eternity. Here we go again...

Send us only your best work, and only then if you feel it is worthy of being included with v3.5. That means on par with some of the better maps to come out with WFA.

Don't send us half-done maps -- We don't want to have to finish them, we only intend on polishing them and optimizing them for better gameplay.

Don't send us maps that don't meet our requirements (this includes DOM support, proper map-design techniques ie. caulking, area portals where applicable, VIS considerations, and most importantly, the damned .map file)

And finally, don't send us complex maps that require a GPS system to tell us where we are and where need to go. Maps should be designed with ease of navagation in mind and allow a player to immediately recognize where (s)he is are a must. (ie: base coloring, location entities, spawn room hints, landmarks, etc)... We don't have time to spend 50 hours learning your maps, and neither do the majority of the players.

Lastly, MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE YOUR .MAP FILE
