I think you can sxroll the z-bar with ctrl-intsert and ctrl-delete.
As far as csg goes, i never use anyhting but csg merge, which takes two or more brushes and merges them into one(if possible. I ussually overdo drawing out brushes the first time aruond, then go thru and look for brushes that can be merged.
